TEACHING IS AN ART

                In the beginning of the lecture section, teacher has to introduce the material that will be discussed in the class. In this part, teacher should consider about the method that is used to open the lecture section. The way teacher starts the lesson will determine the whole lecture section. It means if the teacher failed to introduce it in a good way, it will affect the rest of the lecture section. There are several ways to have a good start of the lecture section in classroom.

                First, get students’ attention. When teacher enter the classroom, most of the student are still thinking about something else out of the course. If it happens along the lecture section, students will get nothing from the teacher. What teacher has to do is get their attention. Firstly, teacher greets them, for example “good morning”, “hello boys and girls”, and so on. Secondly, talk about something interesting for them like “do you have a good weekend?” or “wow your class won the competition, congratulation. What do you feel about that?”. Thirdly, ask them about their homework, for example “Can I collect your homework?”, “Give me your homework, please” and many more. This way is very effective to get their attention because they will realize what course they belong to now.

                Second, introduce the material. Introducing the material is very important because students will get illustration about the topic that will be discussed. However, teacher should do that in interesting way. The ways are: first, teacher should connect this part with course before. It will make the students understand that all the courses they learn are related to each other. Moreover, they will feel that all the courses are important because they realize that to understand more about the courses they must also learn other courses. Second, teacher should make the student relax. Do not make them stress! Third, let the students know about the target and purpose of the topic. Forth, teacher have to give the student clear headline of the topic.
